Registration & Waitlist

I missed the registration deadline. Can my child still play?
Registration closes when divisions reach capacity, even if this occurs prior to the published registration deadline. Divisions often fill and move to a waitlist before the deadline, and we encourage families to register early. Registration opens for Fall on April 1 and for Spring on November 1.

If a division is full, click HERE and sign up for the waitlist as soon as possible.

Important: After completing the waitlist form, you must proceed through checkout and submit the registration (the total will be $0). If checkout is not completed, your child is not placed on the waitlist.

Players may be activated from the waitlist if roster openings occur due to player withdrawals or if additional coaching capacity becomes available. Activation from the waitlist is not guaranteed.

You will be notified if your child is selected from the waitlist and prompted to complete payment at that time. Team assignment may take a couple of days after payment is received.

Once scheduled games begin, we are no longer able to add players.

What if my player needs to withdraw?
There are typically waiting lists for most divisions. If your player will not be able to participate due to injury, scheduling, or other circumstances, please notify the league as soon as possible so that a waitlisted player may be offered the opportunity to participate.

The final deadline for withdrawals was posted in your registration.

Season Schedule & Locations

When are practices and games held?
Practice schedules are determined by coaches prior to the draft, and teams are assigned to those schedules during team selection. Because each division has multiple teams with different practice nights and times, individual team schedules are not available prior to the draft.

In general, divisions have:
• Two one-hour practices per week held on weeknights (Monday–Friday)
• One match on Saturdays
• An end-of-season tournament

The U8 Incredibles (Fall season only) follows a modified format and practices once per week on Saturdays only.

Where are practices and games held?
• Sand league is played at Jupiter Community Park.
• Indoor practices are held at Jupiter Community Center, Independence Middle School, and Duncan Middle School.

What equipment is recommended?
Kneepads (for indoor play) and sand socks (for sand league) are recommended but not required.

Once teams are formed, coaches will contact families directly with specific practice days, times, and location details.

Sponsorship

I would like to sponsor a team. How do I do that?
Thank you for your support of JTAA. Please click HERE for more information about sponsoring a team.

Does sponsorship guarantee team placement?
No. Sponsorship does not guarantee placement on a specific team, coach, practice night, or with specific players. Team formation remains subject to the league’s draft process and roster balance policies.

Team Placement

How are teams formed?
Teams are formed through a structured coach draft process, typically following evaluations in most seasons. Coaches consider overall skill level, school, height, and other draft considerations when building balanced teams across the division.

Can my player be placed with a friend?
The only guaranteed way for two players to be placed together is for their families to volunteer to coach a team together prior to the draft. This opportunity is limited to two families per team and must be confirmed before team selection begins.

All volunteer coaches must complete the JTAA verification process prior to the draft, including:
• NAYS coach training
• FDLE Level 2 fingerprinting/background screening
• Registration as a volunteer through JTAA.org

With up to 16 teams in some age groups, the odds of two specific players being drafted to the same team are very low. Outside of the pre-draft coaching volunteer option, friend requests are not considered.

Can we request a specific team, coach, or practice night?
Practice nights are determined by coaches prior to the draft and are not selected individually by families. Specific teams and coaches requests cannot be accommodated.

During registration, families may indicate one unavailable practice night. Only that single unavailable night will be considered during placement. Additional preferences or conflicts cannot be accommodated.

Preferred practice nights cannot be accommodated.

Can my player be placed for carpool purposes?
With over 400 players participating each season, carpool-based placement requests are not considered. Families are encouraged to coordinate transportation directly within your assigned team, when possible.

Can players switch teams after they are formed?
No. During registration, families initial the following acknowledgment:

“I understand that once teams are formed, a player will not be moved/changed to another team.”

Team placements are final once communicated. This ensures fairness and stability for all players and teams.

Can a coach promise placement or make exceptions?
No. Coaches are not permitted to promise placement, practice nights, team changes, or draft outcomes. All team formation policies are governed by the league and apply equally to all players.

Evaluations

Are evaluations mandatory?
Yes. Evaluations are an important part of the draft process and are designated as mandatory. All players — new and returning — are required to attend their assigned evaluation timeslot.

Players should come prepared to give their best effort during simple, quick drills. This is not something to be nervous about — everyone will be placed on a team.

Accurate evaluations are vital to creating fair, competitive, and enjoyable teams. When evaluations are not accurate, it can result in lopsided teams and a frustrating season for players. Our goal is for every team to have the opportunity to earn at least one win during the season.

If a player is unable to attend evaluations, attendance will be reviewed after sessions are completed. Families will be contacted directly if a makeup evaluation is required.

Coaching Information

How do I register to coach?
We are incredibly grateful for parents and community members who are willing to share their time and talents with our athletes. To be eligible to coach, you must:

• Complete NAYS Coach Training (Coaching Youth Sports and Coaching Youth Volleyball)
• Register as a volunteer coach on JTAA.org and include your NAYS ID number
• Complete an FDLE Level 2 fingerprint-based background check through JTAA’s approved provider

All requirements must be completed before being cleared to coach.

Does registering as a coach guarantee a coaching assignment?
No. Head and assistant coaches are selected and approved by the JTAA Volleyball Board. Registering as a volunteer does not guarantee assignment to a team.

Are coaches background screened?
Yes. All coaches and volunteers are required to complete an FDLE Level 2 fingerprint-based background check and NAYS coach training prior to being cleared to participate. These requirements are mandatory and enforced by JTAA and our facility partners.

Play-Up Requests

Can my player play up in an older division?
Divisions are structured by age group, and roster sizes are built accordingly. In most seasons, divisions are full or near capacity prior to the draft, which limits flexibility for placement outside of the designated age group.

Play-up requests are extremely rarely approved. A request may only be considered if all of the following conditions are met:
• A parent is serving as a coach in the higher division;
• The player is registered in their age-appropriate division prior to and through the refund deadline;
• The higher division is not full and does not have a waitlist prior to the refund deadline; and
• The request is made before the refund deadline.

Even when these criteria are met, any play-up request is subject to review and approval by the Volleyball Board, division directors, and league leadership. Considerations include roster structure, overall size, age, and maturity in order to preserve the experience and competitive balance for players in the older division. Approval is not guaranteed
